NAIROBI – Police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman who fell from a sixth-floor apartment in Kileleshwa during the early hours of Sunday, April 26.
Consolata Githinji died after plunging from the balcony of the residential building, where she had arrived with a 33-year-old man shortly after 4:00am, according to surveillance footage now under police examination.
Security camera records show the pair entering the premises at 4:17am with assistance from a guard who helped them access apartment keys. The footage later captures the guard making multiple entries to the unit between 4:34am and 4:46am, the last time Githinji was seen alive.
Earlier surveillance indicates three other individuals had occupied the same apartment between the previous evening and early morning hours.
The man accompanying Githinji told investigators he found her standing on a bedroom window ledge moments before she fell, claiming he was unable to prevent the incident.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have established that the apartment was not registered under the suspect’s name. Authorities are now analyzing CCTV footage alongside witness statements and forensic evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding Githinji’s death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
