Speaking at Thika Greens Resort, Kenyatta emphasized the need for unity within the party and urged members to focus on policy-driven initiatives rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. The event brought together delegates from across the Mt. Kenya region as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s support base ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

Warning Against Internal Discord

In a stern rebuke, the former president condemned recent internal attacks within the party, singling out Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni for allegedly insulting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Kenyatta warned that such behavior would not be tolerated and could result in expulsion from the party.

“We cannot build a strong political movement on the foundation of personal attacks and insults,” Kenyatta stated. “Our focus must remain on policies that will improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans.”

Strategic Mt. Kenya Mobilization

The forum represents a significant step in Jubilee Party’s strategy to regain influence in the Mt. Kenya region, traditionally considered a key voting bloc in Kenyan politics. The endorsement of Dr. Matiang’i, a former Cabinet Secretary who served under Kenyatta’s administration, signals the party’s intention to present a formidable challenge in the 2027 presidential race.

Party officials present at the event expressed confidence that the grassroots mobilization efforts would translate into renewed support for Jubilee across the region.

The political landscape continues to evolve as parties position themselves for the next general election, with coalition-building and regional support expected to play crucial roles in determining electoral outcomes.
