The veteran politician departed Kenya on Friday morning, with his sister Ruth Odinga confirming the trip in a statement to the press.

“My brother has been working tirelessly over the past several months, navigating complex political developments and attending to party matters,” Ruth Odinga said. “He needs this time to rest and recharge. It’s a short, well-deserved break.”
The Dubai visit comes at a time when Kenyan politics remains highly dynamic, with various political formations jockeying for position ahead of future electoral contests. Oburu Odinga, a senior figure in ODM and brother to opposition leader Raila Odinga, has been at the forefront of party strategy and coalition building efforts.
Family sources indicated that the three-day trip is purely for rest and relaxation, with no official political engagements scheduled during his stay in the United Arab Emirates.
Ruth Odinga emphasized that her brother remains committed to his political duties and will return to Kenya ready to continue serving the party and the country.
“He’ll be back refreshed and ready to tackle the important work ahead,” she added.
Oburu Odinga is expected to return to Nairobi early next week.
