The incident involved young people on motorbikes who tried to reach the border amid heavy police deployment. Kenyan security forces successfully prevented the crossings as tensions flared at the checkpoint.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo issued a stern warning that Kenyans participating in demonstrations in Tanzania could face legal consequences under Kenyan law.
The attempted border crossing comes as Tanzania experiences significant election-related unrest, with major demonstrations breaking out in cities since Wednesday. The protests have drawn regional attention, prompting some Kenyans to attempt to show solidarity with Tanzanian demonstrators.
Both countries have maintained heightened security along the border as the situation continues to develop.
