‘My Position is Safe’: DP Kindiki Shuts Down Political Speculation
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed his commitment to his constitutional role while declaring his full support for President William Ruto’s bid for a second term in office.

Speaking in Kariene town, Central Imenti Constituency on Sunday, Prof. Kindiki emphasized his focus on accelerating the delivery of government projects nationwide and dismissed speculation about his political future.
“I am the Deputy President. This position is secure, and after we complete our second term, we will advance toward higher office,” the Deputy President stated during his address to local residents.
The Deputy President made the remarks after attending the induction and installation ceremony of Bishop Doreen Mwathe as Bishop of Abothuguchi Synod, Methodist Church of Kenya, in Kirigara.
Experienced Leadership Approach
Prof. Kindiki, describing himself as a seasoned politician, rebuffed attempts to draw him into what he termed “idle political discourse,” emphasizing that his priority remains service delivery to Kenyans.
“As an experienced politician, we understand the appropriate time for dialogue, for politics, and for serving the people. We will not engage in unproductive talk daily because our responsibilities to the citizens are substantial,” he remarked.
The Deputy President stressed that his current focus centers on development initiatives and completing ongoing projects to improve living standards across the country.
“Ultimately, it is about tangible achievements for the people—what matters is what you have delivered to them,” Prof. Kindiki insisted.
Major Projects in Meru County
The Deputy President outlined several significant infrastructure projects underway in Meru County, scheduled for completion before the next general election.
These include multiple road construction and upgrade initiatives recently launched across the region. The elevation of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6 status is progressing as planned, while the redesign of Nithi Bridge is set to commence shortly.
Additionally, the Gakoromone Modern Market in Meru town is under construction and, according to Prof. Kindiki, will become the country’s largest market upon completion. Mariene University in Central Imenti has also been prioritized for completion.
Economic Progress Highlighted
Prof. Kindiki pointed to positive economic indicators as evidence of the government’s successful policy implementation, specifically noting the recent reduction in fuel prices.
“Petrol prices have decreased by four shillings. Prices have been declining since 2022 due to presidential interventions,” he said, citing this alongside other macroeconomic indicators as proof of the nation’s economic health.
The Deputy President was accompanied by Meru Governor Mutuma M’ithingia, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, Members of Parliament Kirima Ngucine (Central Imenti) and Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi, several Members of the County Assembly, and other regional leaders.
