The ceremony, held on December 23, brought together senior government officials including Cabinet Secretary for Education Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba and Mombasa County Senator Hon. Mohamed Faki, alongside several Members of the County Assembly.

Speaking at the event, MP Bedzimba emphasized the transformative impact of expanding educational facilities within the constituency, particularly in areas experiencing high student populations and limited infrastructure.

“The establishment of new schools delivers substantial advantages to our communities by broadening educational access, especially in underserved regions where overcrowding has hindered learning,” Bedzimba stated during the opening ceremony.

The legislator highlighted how improved educational infrastructure serves as a catalyst for breaking intergenerational poverty cycles while creating equitable opportunities for all children regardless of their socioeconomic background. He further noted that such investments stimulate local economic development and establish central gathering points for community activities.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ogamba commended the constituency’s commitment to prioritizing education infrastructure, acknowledging the collaborative effort between national and county governments in delivering quality learning environments.

The newly opened institution is expected to accommodate hundreds of students from Shanzu Ward and surrounding areas, significantly easing the burden on existing schools in the region.

In related developments, MP Bedzimba announced that construction preparations are underway for Kadzonzo Primary School in Junda Ward, signaling continued investment in the constituency’s education sector.

“Kadzonzo Primary School in Junda Ward loading soon,” the MP announced, using the hashtag #KISAUNISAFII to rally community support.

The MP concluded his remarks with a Swahili phrase emphasizing quality over prestige: “Shule bora sio bora shule” — roughly translated as “a good school is not about being fancy, but about being effective.”

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to achieve universal access to basic education and improve learning outcomes across coastal region constituencies.
