CECM Amadoh made the pledge after meeting with a delegation from the Maasai community at his office to discuss pressing matters concerning land validation and the approval of public spaces for their commercial operations.

During the engagement, the Maasai representatives outlined their struggles with securing legal documentation for their land and obtaining designated areas where they can carry out their business activities without interference.
Amadoh recognized the vital role the Maasai community plays in bolstering Mombasa’s tourism economy, particularly through their vibrant cultural presentations that have become a major draw for visitors to the port city.
“Mombasa as a metropolitan city hosts various communities and the Maasai community plays a very critical role in the tourism sector, especially in displaying their culture to tourists who visit Mombasa,” Amadoh remarked.

The Lands CECM assured the delegation that his department would establish a close working relationship with community officials to systematically address their concerns and find lasting solutions.
The Maasai community’s presence in Mombasa has enriched the county’s cultural landscape, with their traditional practices, handicrafts, and performances becoming synonymous with the coastal tourism experience.
Land tenure security remains a significant challenge across Mombasa County, where many communities struggle with informal settlements and unresolved ownership claims dating back decades.
Amadoh’s intervention represents a proactive approach by the county government to accommodate diverse communities while protecting their economic interests and cultural heritage in the rapidly developing metropolitan area.
