Mombasa Lands CECM Amadoh Intervenes in Kagujo Land Dispute Affecting Residents

By Feddy Madebe

Mombasa’s Lands department has initiated direct engagement with residents of Kagujo in Magogoni Ward over a land dispute impacting numerous households in the area.

Hussein Amadoh, County Executive Committee Member for Lands, met with affected residents Thursday to address grievances and establish a framework for resolving the contentious matter.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Amadoh said the consultation aimed to understand community concerns while charting a path toward a lasting resolution.

“The engagement provided an opportunity to listen to residents’ concerns and to outline the appropriate processes towards a fair, lawful, and permanent solution, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders,” Amadoh stated.

The session, held in Kisauni Constituency, brought together multiple county officials and local leadership to demonstrate a coordinated approach to the land issue.

In attendance were area Member of County Assembly Hassan Mohamed, alongside fellow MCAs Juma Manuari, Nusura Mwinyi, Khamis Mbaya, and Shuhudia Abdallah.

The county delegation also included Justina Mwikya, Chief Officer for Serikali Mtaani, the Chairman of the Ardhi Fund, and representatives from the Sub-County Administration.

The land matter in Kagujo has been a source of concern for residents, though specific details of the dispute were not disclosed during the public engagement.

County officials indicated that resolving the issue would require cooperation among various government agencies and adherence to established legal frameworks governing land administration.

The meeting represents part of broader efforts by the Nassir administration to address long-standing land disputes across Mombasa County, which have historically affected settlement patterns and property rights in several neighborhoods.
