In a statement issued On Monday 24th Novermber, Governor Nassir accused rivals of resorting to “wild claims and excuses” as they sense impending defeat, while defending his party’s campaign strategy as grassroots-focused and comprehensive.
“The truth is simple: we have run a people-driven campaign that has reached every corner of Magarini,” Nassir said. “We have engaged communities, listened to their aspirations, and stood firmly on the values that ODM has championed for generations.”
The Mombasa county chief, who has been actively campaigning for the ODM candidate in the coastal constituency, declared that his party has “run the race” and “fought a good fight,” expressing confidence that Magarini voters will deliver victory at the polls.
Magarini is among six parliamentary constituencies holding by-elections on November 27, in contests that have taken on national significance as tests of strength between the ruling coalition and opposition forces.
Governor Nassir made an urgent appeal to ODM supporters to turn out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights, emphasizing that strong voter participation would be crucial to securing victory.
He also called on authorities to maintain peace throughout the electoral process and urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure a “free, fair, and credible election befitting the will of the people.”
“Magarini, the future is in your hands. Let’s deliver it together,” Nassir concluded in his statement, which appeared to be a final mobilization push as the campaign period draws to a close.
The Magarini race is part of a broader electoral contest spanning one Senate seat in Baringo, six parliamentary constituencies, and 17 county assembly wards, with results expected to influence political calculations ahead of the 2027 general election.
Polling stations across all affected constituencies are set to open at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, with IEBC officials confirming that all preparations have been completed for the by-elections.
