The signing ceremony, held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, was graced by His Excellency President William Ruto, underscoring the project’s national importance.

The event brought together top executives from Bamburi Cement, representatives of the appointed contractors, and key government stakeholders to seal the agreement, which paves the way for the start of major construction works.
Matuga Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Kassim Sawa Tandaza, who attended the ceremony, hailed the project as a transformative investment for his region. He stated that the factory is poised to significantly enhance industrial growth, create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities, and stimulate broader economic development within Matuga and the wider Coastal region.
“I warmly welcome this crucial investment by Bamburi Cement and reaffirm my unwavering commitment to supporting all initiatives that promote sustainable development and improve livelihoods for the people of Matuga,” Hon. Tandaza said.
The MP extended his commendation to Bamburi Cement for selecting Matuga as the site for this strategic industrial undertaking. He also expressed gratitude to the national leadership, led by President Ruto, for fostering an environment that supports such large-scale projects aimed at driving grassroots industrialization and economic diversification.
The new clinker plant is expected to bolster Kenya’s cement production capacity, reduce reliance on imported clinker, and create a ripple effect of ancillary businesses and infrastructural development in the Matuga area.
