“For Azzam United, there is always next time. Keep working hard as you keep your heads high,” the Governor stated, acknowledging the team’s effort in reaching the final.
Platform for Youth Development
The tournament, organized by media personalities Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan, has established itself as a significant vehicle for nurturing football talent among Kwale’s youth population. Now in its sixth year, the competition provides young athletes with exposure, competitive experience, and opportunities to showcase their abilities before talent scouts and football enthusiasts.
Governor Achani expressed appreciation to the celebrity couple for their continued commitment to youth sports development in the coastal county.

“Special thanks to Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan for organizing such a prestigious tournament that has availed a platform for many youth of Kwale County to realize their football potential,” she remarked during the event.
The Super Cup has grown considerably since its inception, attracting teams from across Kwale County and neighboring regions. The tournament not only promotes athletic excellence but also fosters community cohesion and provides constructive engagement for young people.
Growing Sports Infrastructure
The successful hosting of the final at Kwale Stadium reflects the county government’s investment in sports facilities and youth programs. The venue has undergone improvements to accommodate larger crowds and provide better playing conditions for athletes.
Local sports administrators view the tournament as complementary to broader efforts to identify and nurture sporting talent that could eventually represent the county and nation at higher competitive levels.
As Lazium FC celebrates their championship victory, attention now turns to preparations for the seventh edition of the Rashid Abdalla Super Cup, with organizers expected to announce details in the coming months.
The tournament continues to serve as a model for private-public partnerships in youth sports development, demonstrating how celebrity influence and government support can combine to create meaningful opportunities for young athletes in marginalized communities.
