Madowo indicated he has gathered what he described as substantial evidence suggesting violent incidents occurred during protests related to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s reelection. The veteran journalist said he is currently working to verify videos and accounts that allegedly depict violent crackdowns on Tanzanian protesters.

In his preliminary findings, Madowo stated he has conducted interviews with Tanzanian citizens and members of the press. He noted that several journalists he approached declined to appear on camera, citing concerns about potential repercussions from authorities.
The CNN correspondent emphasized that his team is undertaking a thorough verification process before broadcasting their findings. He announced that a full investigative report is scheduled to air within the next week, pending completion of the fact-checking procedures.
The allegations come amid heightened scrutiny of Tanzania’s political climate and press freedom conditions. CNN has not yet released the complete findings of Madowo’s investigation.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding these allegations.
