KMTC Scholarship Alert: Nine Specialised Courses Now Open for Applications — Here Is How to Qualify
The African Development Bank-funded scholarships target nine higher diploma programmes and a short course across KMTC campuses, with a March 15 deadline

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has opened applications for fully funded scholarships targeting health professionals seeking to specialise in urology and nephrology — the medical fields dedicated to kidney care and treatment.
The scholarships are offered under the East Africa Centre of Excellence in Urology and Nephrology (EACE-UN) programme, a regional initiative supported by the Ministry of Health and funded through a loan from the African Development Bank. KMTC Chief Executive Officer Kelly Oluoch confirmed the opportunity in a statement issued on Thursday, January 26, urging eligible candidates to take advantage of the programme.
What the Scholarship Covers
Successful applicants will have their tuition fees fully catered for, along with a stipend to support their living expenses throughout the duration of their studies. However, Oluoch was clear that scholarship awards are subject to funding availability, making early and complete applications essential.
Nine Programmes on Offer
The scholarship supports training across nine higher diploma programmes and one short course, all offered at various KMTC campuses across Kenya. The programmes available are:
Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering, with three specialisation tracks covering Dialysis Equipment, Therapeutic Equipment, and Diagnostic Equipment; Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery with a Nephrology focus; Higher Diploma in Nephrology Nursing; Higher Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics specialising in Renal Nutrition; Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences; Higher Diploma in Occupational Therapy; and Higher Diploma in Renal Pharmacy. A six-month short course in Renal Transplant Nursing is also available under the programme.
The majority of the higher diploma programmes run on a full-time basis over two years.
Who Can Apply
The scholarships are targeted at practising health professionals, specifically biomedical engineers, clinical officers, nurses, nutrition officers, laboratory professionals, occupational therapists, and pharmaceutical technologists. Priority consideration will be given to county government employees, KMTC staff, and applicants who can demonstrate at least three years of relevant work experience.
How to Apply
Prospective candidates are required to visit the KMTC admissions portal to download and complete the application form. A key component of the application is a handwritten essay of no more than 200 words, in which applicants must articulate why they deserve the scholarship and outline the contribution they intend to make to their communities upon graduation.
Critically, applicants must first secure an unconditional admission offer for their chosen course before they can be considered for the scholarship award.
All applications must be submitted by March 15, 2026. For queries, prospective applicants can reach the admissions office at admissions@kmtc.ac.ke.
