KITI May Intake 2026: Courses Open for C- and D Students, Fees From Ksh 6,000

The Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) has opened applications for its May 2026 intake, offering both short-term and long-term technical, industrial, and business courses to students and working professionals across the country.

The announcement was made through a formal notice published in the government publication MyGov on Tuesday, March 2, inviting prospective applicants to enrol before the March 25 deadline.

What Courses Does KITI Offer?

KITI offers two main categories of programmes: long-term KNEC-examined diploma and craft certificate courses, and short-term industrial skills upgrading courses designed for employees in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Small and Medium Industries (SMIs).

Long-term courses run between three months and two years and are offered across a wide range of departments, including:

  • Building and Construction
  • Clothing and Textile
  • Leather and Tannery
  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics
  • Food and Beverage
  • Entrepreneurship

Short-term courses run between two days and three months and cover practical trade skills including plumbing, hairdressing, garment making, welding, food and beverage production, bread making, electrical installation, CCTV installation, computer-aided design, leather and turning, and entrepreneurship skills.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements vary depending on the programme. Diploma programmes generally require a minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade of C-, while craft certificate courses require a minimum of D plain. Applicants are advised to confirm specific requirements for their chosen course directly with the institute.

Fees and Accommodation

KITI accommodates both boarders and non-boarders. For most long-term programmes, boarders pay Ksh 32,500 for the first term and Ksh 25,500 for subsequent terms. Non-boarders pay Ksh 23,000 for the first term and Ksh 16,000 thereafter.

Short-term course fees vary by programme:

  • Two-day tailor-made courses (juice, yoghurt, and jam making): Ksh 6,000
  • Two-week bread-making course: Ksh 10,000
  • Barista training: Ksh 25,000
  • Computer-aided design (per month): Ksh 10,000
  • CCTV installation and mobile phone repair: Ksh 18,000

The institute describes itself as equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities, including a modern registered medical facility with qualified staff offering both medical and counselling services to trainees.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted on or before March 25, either through the eCitizen portal or directly via the KITI website. Applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Copies of KCSE or KCPE certificates or result slips
  • National ID
  • Birth certificate
  • A non-refundable application fee of Ksh 300
