KCSE 2025 Rankings: Top 21 Schools Revealed as Moi High Kabarak Leads Nationally

Nakuru County institution leads with mean score of 10.59 as 270,715 candidates qualify for university

Leading national schools across the country have posted impressive results in the recently released 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, according to provisional results compiled from school tallies.

Moi High School Kabarak in Nakuru County emerged as the top-ranked school nationally with a mean score of 10.59. The institution registered 82 A-plains and 150 A-minus grades, with only a single student failing to attain the university entry grade of C+ out of 450 candidates who sat for the examination.

Alliance High School secured second position with a mean score of 10.47, an improvement from 10.28 in the 2024 KCSE examinations. Maranda High School claimed third place with a mean score of 10.20.

Top Performers Maintain Excellence

In one of the most competitive examinations in the country, other top-performing schools include Murang’a High School (10.16), Alliance Girls High School (10.10), and Kapsabet Boys High School (10.00).

Kapsabet Boys, located in Nandi County, maintained its stellar performance despite a slight drop from the previous year, hitting a mean score of 10.00.

In the Nyanza region, Maseno School recorded a mean of 9.8, while Asumbi Girls and St Francis Rang’ala Girls’ High Schools posted mean grades of 9.7 and 9.6, respectively.

Other notable performers include Starehe Boys Centre, Mang’u High School, Pangani Girls, Nairobi School, and Lenana High School.

National Performance Overview

Of the 993,226 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination, 492,012 were male while 501,214 were female, representing 49.54 per cent and 50.46 per cent of the total candidature, respectively.

The number of candidates who attained direct university entry qualifications of mean grade C+ and above stood at 270,715, marking an improvement from 246,391 in 2024.

Additionally, 507,131 candidates achieved grade C- (minus) and above, while 634,082 candidates scored grade D+ and above.

The provisional results, based on school tallies, provide an early outlook of how the country’s academic institutions performed. Official results are expected to be released by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
