“I Will Shame You”: Kindiki Issues Explosive Warning to Former DP Gachagua at Political Rally

MBEERE NORTH, Kenya – November 23, 2025 – In a dramatic escalation of the simmering political feud within the nation’s ruling party, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has publicly threatened to expose damaging information about his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, declaring he will “shame” the former deputy president if the verbal attacks continue.

The stern warning was delivered on Saturday during a charged campaign rally in Kivue, where Kindiki was drumming up support for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, Leonard Muthende, ahead of the critical Mbeere North by-election scheduled for November 27.

The Deputy President’s ire was sparked by what he described as Gachagua’s persistent reference to him as a mere “employee” of President William Ruto, a label Kindiki forcefully rejected as a disrespect to his elected office.

“Gachagua, leave me alone! I will shame you. I am not someone to play with,” Kindiki declared before a gathered crowd, his voice rising with intensity. “You have threatened many people, but your days are over.”

He directly tied his impending revelations to his previous tenure as the powerful Interior Cabinet Secretary, a role that placed him at the helm of the country’s security apparatus. “I will shame you through information that I gathered while still serving as the Interior Cabinet Secretary,” he stated, signaling that the potential disclosures could stem from official channels.

Kindiki did not mince words in his criticism, launching a scathing personal and political comparison between himself and Gachagua. He painted a picture of his predecessor as an inexperienced legislator who paled in comparison to his own legislative record.

“He was elected as a one-term MP, and in that term, he did not even chair a committee in Parliament. He was a backbencher when I was Majority Leader in the Senate,” Kindiki claimed, drawing a clear line between their political pedigrees.

The Deputy President further escalated his allegations by revisiting the 2022 election negotiations. He accused Gachagua of orchestrating a forceful campaign to secure the deputy presidential ticket, alleging that the former DP engineered the “No Rigathi, No Ruto” protests within UDA to pressure President Ruto into selecting him as a running mate.

Beyond the personal rivalry, Kindiki accused Gachagua of intimidating other leaders in the Mount Kenya region and abandoning the decorum of past prominent leaders from the area. He castigated what he termed as Gachagua’s “radical anti-government politics,” a clear message that the former deputy’s current stance is at odds with the administration he once helped lead.

Despite the fiery exchange, Kindiki concluded his address with a call for peaceful and issue-based campaigns in the final days leading up to the Mbeere North by-election. The confrontation, however, has laid bare the deep fissures within the ruling coalition, setting the stage for a potentially explosive political showdown.
