“I Will Not Join Maskio Party Through Intimidation” – MP Wamuchomba Tells Gachagua Supporters
NAIROBI, November 4, 2025 – Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has doubled down on her rejection of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political movement, accusing his supporters of abusing those who refuse to join the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
In a passionate Facebook post on Tuesday morning, the legislator defended her position against what she described as the “Emotional Battalion” – supporters of the former Deputy President who she claims are intimidating politicians and citizens who decline to associate with what she mockingly calls the “Maskio party.”

Reflecting on 2022 Political Choices
Wamuchomba drew parallels between the current political situation and the 2022 general elections, reminding her constituents of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s warnings against supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“In the year 2022, Uhuru told us not to follow THEM. We told HIM maliza uende. He told us Mtaregret; we told him hatukuli barabara,” she wrote, using a Swahili phrase meaning “finish and go.”
The MP listed what she described as the devastating consequences of that political choice, including the deaths of young people, loss of income through mandatory deductions, closed businesses, lost tea bonuses, and demolished houses.
Accusations of Political Hypocrisy
In her hard-hitting post, Wamuchomba accused the same leaders who campaigned in 2022 of returning with new promises, now urging Mt. Kenya residents to rally behind DCP as “our party.”
She particularly criticized recent disparaging remarks allegedly made about children of single mothers, contrasting this with previous calls to elect “Kawanjiku” – a reference to the ordinary Kikuyu woman often invoked in political campaigns.
“They told us to elect ‘Kawanjiku,’ now they are telling us children of single mothers are worthless,” she stated, expressing dismay at what she views as political double standards.
Standing Firm on Principles
The outspoken MP made clear she would not be swayed by intimidation or pressure to join Gachagua’s political vehicle.
“I will tell you the unpopular truth. I will not support a murderer, and I have been consistent, but I will not join Maskio party blindly and through intimidations,” Wamuchomba declared.
She expressed concern that Gachagua’s movement might ultimately align with “the same characters” who opposed Uhuru Kenyatta’s influence and whom she blamed for the deaths of protesters.
Call for Unity and Dialogue
Despite her criticism, Wamuchomba called for an end to internal fighting within the Mt. Kenya political class, warning that continued divisions would only benefit political opponents.
“Our fights will only give the enemy a free pass to victory,” she cautioned, urging supporters to “stop and review” their approach and “download your emotions.”
The MP also condemned the use of derogatory terms against women politicians, stating that “branding women like wakarinda, wamarinda doesn’t add votes, it only scatters.”
Political Implications
Wamuchomba’s remarks highlight the deep divisions emerging in Mt. Kenya politics as different factions compete for influence following Gachagua’s impeachment. Her willingness to speak against what she terms “politics of emotion” positions her as a potential bridge-builder, though her strong language may further polarize the debate.
The legislator concluded her post by acknowledging that “insults are the food of politics,” suggesting she is prepared for the backlash her statements may generate.
DCP officials and Gachagua’s supporters had not responded to Wamuchomba’s latest comments at the time of publication.
