By Feddy Madebe
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro on Friday morning joined members of the Malindi Methodist Church to pay his last respects during the funeral service of the late Mama Elizabeth Kamami Kaibunga, who passed away at the age of 80.

The Governor attended the memorial service to offer his condolences and support to the bereaved family of the late Mzee Kaibunga, emphasizing the county leadership’s solidarity with them during this difficult period.

Speaking at the service, Governor Mung’aro assured the family of continued prayers and support, noting that true comfort during times of grief comes from divine intervention.
“We stand with the Kaibunga family during this moment of loss. Our prayers remain with you as you navigate through this difficult time,” the Governor stated.

In his message of consolation, Governor Mung’aro drew inspiration from scripture, quoting Revelation 21:3-4, which speaks of God’s promise of eternal comfort and the end of pain and suffering for the faithful departed.
“The scriptures remind us that God will dwell with His people, wiping away every tear from their eyes. There shall be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain in His eternal presence,” he reflected.

The Governor prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama Elizabeth Kaibunga’s soul, asking God to grant her eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom.
Mama Kaibunga, who lived a full life of eight decades, was remembered by the congregation as a devoted member of the Malindi Methodist Church and a pillar of her community.
The funeral service brought together family members, church leaders, community members, and local leaders who gathered to celebrate her life and offer support to the grieving family.

Governor Mung’aro’s attendance underscored the county government’s commitment to standing with families during moments of bereavement and maintaining close ties with faith-based communities across Kilifi County.
