The ill-fated aircraft was transporting tourists from Diani to the Maasai Mara for a safari expedition when it went down in the Tsimba area, eyewitnesses have confirmed.

Eyewitnesses Describe Horrific Scene
Local residents reported seeing the aircraft plummeting from the sky before it crashed in their locality. The plane immediately exploded upon impact, with flames quickly engulfing the wreckage.
“We heard a loud sound and saw the plane coming down. Within seconds of hitting the ground, there was a huge explosion and fire everywhere,” said one local resident who witnessed the tragedy.
Emergency responders who arrived at the crash site reported that the intense fire had burned all 12 passengers beyond recognition, complicating immediate identification efforts.
Investigation Underway
Aviation authorities have been notified of the incident and are expected to dispatch investigators to the crash site to determine the cause of the accident. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and local police have cordoned off the area as investigations commence.
Weather conditions and mechanical failure are among the factors investigators will examine as they work to establish what caused the aircraft to go down.
Tourist Route Under Scrutiny
The Diani to Maasai Mara route is a popular corridor for tourists seeking to experience Kenya’s world-renowned wildlife reserves. Light aircraft are frequently used to transport visitors between the coastal region and the country’s premier safari destinations, offering scenic flights over the Kenyan landscape.
The accident has raised fresh concerns about aviation safety on tourist routes, particularly those serviced by smaller aircraft.
Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victims or details about the aircraft operator, pending notification of next of kin and completion of preliminary investigations.
The tourism industry, a vital component of Kenya’s economy, has been left reeling from the tragedy as the nation mourns the loss of the 12 lives.
More details are expected to emerge as investigators continue their work at the crash site.
