DAR ES SALAAM – Unverified reports circulating on social media claim that Tanzanian authorities denied entry to International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutors and forensic experts at Julius Nyerere International Airport, allegedly forcing them onto a return flight to The Hague.

According to a graphic posted by an outlet identifying itself as “7 News Global” and dated November 10, 2025, the ICC delegation was allegedly turned away at immigration and placed on the next Kenya Airways flight back to The Hague.

The claims, which have not been independently verified, suggest the visit may have been related to examining alleged human rights violations in Tanzania, though no official confirmation has been provided by either the ICC or Tanzanian government.

If true, the incident would represent a significant escalation in tensions between Tanzania and international bodies, coming amid ongoing controversy over President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s disputed reelection, which has faced criticism from the United Nations, African Union, and Southern African Development Community.

Tanzania is a signatory to the Rome Statute, which theoretically grants the ICC jurisdiction to investigate serious international crimes on Tanzanian territory.

However, the authenticity of these claims remains unclear. Neither the International Criminal Court nor Tanzanian government officials have issued statements confirming or denying the alleged incident.

The reports also come shortly after President Samia blamed neighboring countries for fueling unrest in Tanzania and offered to work with the opposition, while facing questions about her reported 96 percent election victory.

Editor’s Note: This story is based on unverified social media reports. Readers are advised to await official confirmation from credible sources before drawing conclusions about the alleged incident.
