EACC Raids Nyamira County Offices, Governor Nyaribo’s Homes in Ksh382 Million Probe
NYAMIRA, Kenya – In a major multi-county operation, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday executed simultaneous raids on the homes and offices of Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo and several senior county officials.

The searches are part of an expanding investigation into a Ksh382 million corruption scandal involving a single tender, suspected of serious procurement irregularities and the alleged embezzlement of public funds.
According to EACC sources, the coordinated raids were conducted across Nyamira, Kisii, and Nairobi counties. The anti-graft body’s primary objective was to secure critical documents and digital evidence believed to be crucial to the probe.
Broad Net Cast in Procurement Probe
The investigation appears to cast a wide net within the county’s administration. Officials from key departments, including Housing and Physical Planning, Finance and Accounting Services, as well as Roads and Public Works, were named as persons of interest.
The operation signals the EACC’s intensified focus on alleged graft within county governments, where procurement fraud and financial misconduct have been persistent challenges.
A Pattern of Scrutiny
Wednesday’s events unfold against a backdrop of longstanding accountability concerns surrounding Governor Nyaribo’s administration. The governor has previously faced allegations of nepotism and financial mismanagement, which he has consistently denied.
His tenure has been marked by public scrutiny, including protests from local youth groups demanding answers for stalled development projects and greater transparency in county expenditures.
The EACC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the evidence seized during the raids. It remains unclear when the commission will conclude its investigation or if any charges will be filed
