President Ruto Announces KSh66 Billion Development Package for Nakuru County

State House, Nakuru – President William Ruto on Tuesday convened a consultative meeting with grassroots leaders from Nakuru County to review development progress and outline the government’s transformative agenda for the region.

Speaking at State House, Nakuru, the President emphasized the administration’s commitment to building an inclusive and prosperous Kenya through strategic investments in infrastructure, housing, and economic zones.

Major Infrastructure Investments Announced

President Ruto disclosed that the government is implementing several high-impact projects across Nakuru County, with combined investments exceeding KSh66 billion.

The affordable housing initiative tops the list with a KSh40 billion allocation aimed at constructing 21,000 housing units. This forms part of the government’s nationwide effort to address the housing deficit and provide decent, affordable homes for Kenyan families.

The President also announced a KSh3.5 billion investment in the construction of 25 modern markets across the county, designed to improve trading conditions and boost local commerce.

Additionally, KSh2.6 billion has been earmarked to connect 22,000 households to the national electricity grid, expanding energy access to rural communities.

Naivasha Special Economic Zone Development

In partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the government has committed KSh20 billion towards developing critical infrastructure at the Naivasha Special Economic Zone. President Ruto said this investment would create new opportunities in manufacturing, trade, and industrial growth, positioning the zone as a key driver of regional economic development.

Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway

The President provided an update on the 230-kilometer Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Road, confirming that he would soon launch its construction. The highway is expected to revolutionize transport connectivity and facilitate trade across the region, linking the capital city to western Kenya.

Economic and Agricultural Progress

During the meeting, President Ruto and county leaders reflected on progress made in strengthening the national economy, enhancing agricultural production and productivity, and expanding the country’s road network.

The President described the gathering as “an open and constructive dialogue” focused on the shared journey of national transformation and renewal. He emphasized that the initiatives being implemented represent practical steps toward improving livelihoods and transforming communities across Nakuru County and the nation at large.

The consultative forum underscored the government’s commitment to grassroots engagement in policy implementation and development planning.
