Genge Artist Juakali and Citizen TV’s Mwanamisi Hamadi Among 184 Kenyans to Receive State Honours

President William Ruto will honour 184 Kenyans during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, recognizing their outstanding contributions across various fields of national development.

Among the honorees are veteran Genge singer Juakali and Citizen TV presenter Mwanamisi Hamadi. This Mashujaa’s selection reflects the diverse excellence being celebrated under Kenya’s National Heroes Act.

The Act empowers the President to recognize Kenyans who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields, contributing significantly to the nation’s growth and development.

This year’s celebrations carry added significance as the nation commemorates the life of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

The Mashujaa Day observance will serve as both a celebration of national heroes and a tribute to the late statesman’s decades of service to Kenya.

The event will be held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, which has a capacity of 10,000 seats. The choice of venue brings the national celebrations to the Eastern region, allowing residents of Kitui and surrounding areas to participate in the historic occasion.

Mwanamisi Hamadi is being honoured for her impactful television program “Mwanamke Bomba,” which has become a platform for women’s empowerment across the country. The show has resonated with audiences by highlighting women’s stories and addressing issues affecting Kenyan women.

Responding to her nomination, Hamadi expressed gratitude and humility.

The inclusion of Juakali, a pioneer in Kenya’s Genge music scene, recognizes the genre’s cultural impact and its role in giving voice to urban youth experiences.

President Ruto will lead the national celebrations, which honour Kenyans who have demonstrated exceptional service, bravery, and dedication to the nation’s progress.

The Mashujaa Day celebrations will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2025, continuing Kenya’s tradition of recognizing heroes who have shaped the nation’s history and continue to inspire future generations
