How to Apply for Kenya Utalii College Through KUCCPS — Diploma and Certificate Applications Now Open

Applications open through April 1, 2026 — here’s everything you need to know

Form Four leavers who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination have a fresh opportunity to build careers in one of East Africa’s fastest-growing economic sectors. Kenya Utalii College (KUC), the country’s premier hospitality and tourism training institution, has officially opened applications for diploma and certificate programmes through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

The KUCCPS student portal began accepting submissions on Friday, giving thousands of KCSE candidates — including those from previous examination years — access to 13 accredited programmes in hospitality management, culinary arts, travel, and tourism. The application window closes on April 1, 2026, making it critical for prospective students to act promptly.

A Historic Shift in How Kenya Utalii College Admits Students

For nearly five decades, Kenya Utalii College operated under direct admission through the Ministry of Tourism. That process has now changed significantly. With its integration into the KUCCPS central placement framework, KUC joins a growing network of 155 government-affiliated colleges — including the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and the Kenya School of Law — that have adopted the merit-based, nationally standardised system.

The transition follows a formal partnership agreement signed on January 19 between KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome and KUC Principal Mark Rachuonyo Ogendi. The collaboration was designed specifically to expand equitable access to Kenya Utalii College’s globally respected training programmes.

Dr. Wahome emphasised that the KUCCPS placement model is built on the principles of fairness, merit, and regional equity — ensuring that students from every corner of Kenya have an equal opportunity to access quality hospitality and tourism education.
