Prophet Owuor WhatsApp Chat With God Goes Viral Despite Church Denial
The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has issued a forceful denial following the widespread circulation of a screenshot purporting to show Prophet David Owuor in WhatsApp communication with God.

The image, which has been shared extensively across social media platforms, has prompted thousands of interactions from Kenyan users, generating reactions ranging from scepticism to mockery. Church officials have categorically rejected its authenticity.
In a formal statement released this week, the ministry described the material as “entirely false, baseless, and malicious,” calling on the public to cease distribution and dismiss the content outright.
“It has come to our attention that a fabricated image is circulating on social media, falsely alleging that Prophet Dr Owuor engages in WhatsApp communication with GOD,” the statement read. “This claim is entirely false, baseless, and malicious.”
The church maintains that Prophet Owuor has never claimed, demonstrated, or implied any form of digital correspondence with the divine.
However, the denial comes amid existing controversy. During a recent sermon, the prophet was filmed displaying what he characterized as divine messages received through the messaging application. According to his presentation, these communications contained calls for repentance and assurances of forthcoming rainfall. He reportedly stated that he alone maintains this unique channel of communication with God via WhatsApp.
The ministry has framed the circulating screenshot as a deliberate attack designed to undermine Christian faith and divert attention from their central teachings on repentance and spiritual purity.
The controversy arrives on the heels of a critical investigative report broadcast by TV47 on 9 February. The programme, titled ‘Divine or Deceptive,’ examined healing claims associated with Prophet Owuor’s ministry and included testimonies alleging medical decline among individuals who discontinued conventional treatment.
The broadcaster additionally reported attempts by ministry representatives to suppress the investigation through financial inducements. These allegations were swiftly rejected by the church as baseless fabrication and extortion tactics.
Technical Analysis Raises Questions
Digital examination of the circulating screenshot reveals several anomalies that support claims of manipulation. The timestamps within the purported conversation display chronological inconsistencies, including a message timestamped at 7:03 AM receiving a reply marked 7:01 AM—a logical impossibility.
Furthermore, the rapid exchange pattern shown in the messages—spanning merely minutes—contrasts sharply with the theological concept of divine timelessness suggested by details such as “last seen Eternity.”
Media analysts who reviewed the image noted that these internal contradictions provide clear evidence of digital construction rather than authentic documentation.
The formatting mimics genuine messaging interfaces, incorporating familiar visual elements including read receipts and time markers, which observers suggest was designed to lend superficial credibility to satirical content.
The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has not announced plans for legal action against those distributing the image but continues to urge followers and the general public to exercise discernment regarding material circulating online.
As debate continues across Kenyan social platforms, questions persist about the intersection of religious authority, digital communication claims, and public accountability in faith-based organizations.
