MP Salim Feisal Bader Launches 580-Capacity KMTC Hostel Project in Msambweni

MSAMBWENI — Msambweni Member of Parliament Hon. Salim Feisal Abdallah Bader has officially handed over a construction site for a seven-storey student hostel at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Msambweni campus, marking a significant expansion in student accommodation capacity.

The MP joined the Coast Affordable Housing team, KMTC Msambweni Principal, the Deputy County Commissioner, and the area Member of County Assembly in the Thursday morning ceremony that signals the beginning of construction for the modern facility.

Five-Fold Increase in Student Accommodation

The new hostel will accommodate 580 students, representing a nearly five-fold increase from the current 120-capacity facility. The inadequate housing has previously forced numerous students to seek accommodation off-campus, raising concerns about safety and academic performance.

The modern facility will feature comprehensive amenities designed to support student welfare and create a conducive learning environment. Officials indicated that the expanded on-campus housing will significantly improve student security while allowing learners to focus more effectively on their studies.

Support for Cultural and Sports Events

During the site visit, Hon. Bader engaged with student leaders who are preparing to host regional games and a cultural festival scheduled for March next year. The MP pledged his full support for the upcoming events, which are expected to bring together students from across the region.

Scholarship Program Shows Strong Results

Following the hostel handover ceremony, the MP visited Mvindeni Opportunity Centre to evaluate beneficiaries of his National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Full Scholarship Program.

Hon. Bader expressed satisfaction with the academic performance of most scholarship recipients, noting that they are excelling in their studies. He encouraged the students to utilize the upcoming holiday period for intensive study to achieve even better results in future examinations.

Investment in Youth and Infrastructure

The MP emphasized his administration’s commitment to transforming Msambweni through strategic investments in education infrastructure and youth development programs. He reiterated that service delivery to constituents remains his primary priority.

The KMTC hostel project represents one of several education-focused initiatives undertaken by the MP’s office, building on existing scholarship programs and infrastructure improvements across the constituency.

Construction timelines and completion dates for the seven-storey facility are expected to be announced once contractors mobilize to the site.
