President Ruto Travels to Washington for Historic DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement Signing
President William Ruto has flown out of the country on another diplomatic trip, this time to Washington, D.C. in the United States.

The president’s departure was confirmed on Tuesday, December 2 by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, who revealed that Ruto had departed at the invitation of President Donald Trump to witness the signing of the historic DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement.
The signing event will be attended by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the two figures at the heart of the deal.
“At the invitation of President Donald J. Trump, President William Ruto departs this afternoon for Washington, D.C., in the U.S.A. to join President Paul Kagame and President Félix Tshisekedi in witnessing the official signing of the DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement; the most significant breakthrough in addressing decades of conflict in Eastern DRC,” a statement from State House read.
The agreement between the DRC and Rwanda marks a major breakthrough in resolving conflict in Eastern DRC which has persisted for decades, with the new deal set to build on earlier peace efforts which took place in Nairobi and Luanda as well as the joint EAC-SADC initiative.
